Korean Heritage: Samulnori+Talchum
Genre:
“Samulnori” is a percussion genre
with roots in Korea that combines four types of musical instruments (Samul) with the words to play (nori).
“Talchum” is a masquerade dance is a performance in which a person or group of people dress up as different people, animals or supernatural beings (gods), with their faces or heads covered by masks, and dance and act out dialogue to music.
Materials:
Using traditional materials such as Korean patchwork, yeopjeon, and meok, the four instruments represent thunder, wind, rain, and clouds, which are played on the instrument.
The ‘Korean Heritage: Samulnori+Talchum’ project reaches out to the public in the form of digital artwork, giving audiences the opportunity to experience and understand Korea's variou traditional culture through the installation of motion posters. In short, it is a way to preserve our cultural heritage.Korea's traditional intangible heritage is currently in danger of disappearing as fewer and fewer people are able to keep it alive. While preserving the unique cultural elements of Korea, the project attempts to revisit traditional culture by presenting new perspectives and approaches. It is also expected to contribute to the preservation and development of our cultural heritage by providing a platform for the public to recognise the importance and value of traditional intangible heritage and pass it on to the next generation.

'사물놀이'란 네가지 종류의 악기(사물)와 연극하다, 놀다의 놀이(노리)가 합쳐진 말로, 한국에 뿌리를 둔 타악기 장르입니다.
탈춤이란 한 사람 또는 여러 사람이 가면으로 얼굴이나 머리 전체를 가리고 다른 인물, 동물 또는 초자연적 존재(신) 등으로 분장한 후 음악에 맞추어 춤과 대사로써 연극하는 것을 말한다.
소재:
한국의 조각보, 엽전, 먹 등과 같은 전통 소재를 이용하여 네가지 악기가 표현하는 천둥, 바람, 비, 구름을 한국전통 탈춤의 움직임에 빗대어 표현합니다.
'한국의 유산: 사물놀이+탈춤' 프로젝트는 디지털 아트워크의 형태로 대중들에게 접근하여, 모션포스터의 설치를 통해 관객들에게 한국의 다채로운 전통문화를 경험하고 이해할 수 있는 기회를 제공합니다. 이를 통해 우리의 문화유산을 보존하고 발전시키는 데 기여하며, 지속 가능성에 대한 인식을 높이고자 합니다.한국의 전통무형유산은 현재 계승자가 줄어들어가면서 사라지고 있는 위기에 처해 있습니다. 한국의 고유한 문화적 요소를 보존하면서도 새로운 시각과 접근을 제시하여 전통문화의 재조명을 시도합니다. 또한, 이를 통해 전통무형유산의 중요성과 가치를 널리 알리고, 다음 세대에게 전달할 수 있는 플랫폼을 제공하여 문화유산의 보존과 발전에 기여할 것으로 기대됩니다.
