‘Leftisright’ is an object brand that originated from the perspective of left-handedness, exploring etymological discrimination through functional art. We aim to offer new perspectives by examining the etymological distinctions between left and right hands, and to foster a deeper understanding of diversity and others. Leftisright provides a fresh perspective on the meaning of 'left is right' and 'left hand is right hand for lefties,' suggesting a new way of living by thinking differently from everyday standards and recognizing and respecting diversity and different identities.
'Leftisright(레프트이즈라이트)'는 왼손잡이에서 출발한 오브제 브랜드로, 기능적인 예술을 통해 어원적 차별을 탐구합니다. 우리는 왼손과 오른손의 어원적 구분을 통해 새로운 시각을 제공하고, 다양성과 타인에 대한 깊은 이해를 창출하는 것을 목표로 합니다. Leftisright는 '왼쪽이 오른쪽이다'와 '왼손은 왼손잡이에게 오른손이다'라는 의미에 대한 새로운 관점을 제시하며, 일상적인 기준에서 벗어나 다르게 생각하고 살며, 다양성과 다른 정체성을 인식하고 존중하는 새로운 방식을 제안합니다.

Etymological Discrimination
Through my research, I discovered that discrimination exists in languages around the world and that people are less aware of it than they should be. Words related to left-handedness often originate from negative and unfavorable roots, while words associated with right-handedness frequently come from positive and favorable origins.
리서치를 통해, 전 세계 언어에서 차별이 존재하며, 사람들이 이에 대해 인식이 부족하다는 것을 알게 되었습니다. 왼손잡이와 관련된 단어들은 부정적이고 나쁜 뿌리에서 유래된 반면, 오른손잡이와 관련된 단어들은 긍정적이고 올바른 뿌리에서 유래된 경우가 많습니다.
Handle type
‘Sinister’ and ‘Dexterous’ are words derived from the origins of the left and right hands, respectively. The word "sinister" carries historical connotations of negativity associated with the left hand, while "dexterous" reflects positive attributes linked to the right hand. Leftisright uses the first letters of these terms to enhance a commonly used object—the cup—with functional artistry, offering new perspectives and fostering a deeper understanding of others.Sinister와 Dexterous는 각각 왼손과 오른손에서 유래된 단어로, 불길한이라는 단어는 왼손과 관련된 역사적 편견을, 솜씨 있는이라는 단어는 오른손의 긍정적인 이미지를 반영합니다. Leftisright는 이 단어들의 첫 글자를 활용하여, 손으로 가장 일반적으로 사용하는 컵에 기능적 예술성을 더함으로써 새로운 시각을 제공하고 타인에 대한 깊은 이해를 창출합니다.

The Camelex cup embodies the core values of the brand as a dual-handle cup. This cup explores etymological biases between left and right hands through its unique form and functional artistry. Inspired by the adaptive nature of chameleons, it offers a new perspective on everyday objects and provides an inclusive user experience that respects diverse hand preferences. Additionally, it serves as an object that fosters a deeper understanding of the etymological distinctions between left and right hands.
